Building Permits Pulled for Cascades Development
Truthfully, there can be no new reporting under the sun on this project. It's been covered at length by every major media outlet in TLH. I won't parrot the details as it's likely you know all there is to know about this costly $158 million development. So with that, I'll simply announce: the permits are pulled.
Expect a forthcoming groundbreaking as North American Properties commences construction of their seminal downtown project. In the above renderings, provided exclusively by TLH Development, you can view the plans for the upscale Marriott AC Hotel, as well as updated renderings of the major portions of the development adjacent to Cascades Park.
The Hawthorne Reopens as a Bistro & Bakery
Seven Hills Hospitality is the restaurant group which brought a taste of the upscale, gastropub type ambience prevalent in major cities with their concepts, Liberty and El Cocinero. In full disclosure, I was once a member of the Liberty barback program, and I'm quite proud of it. Anyhow, Seven Hills has re-imagined their former restaurant, The Hawthorne, as a local bakery and sandwich shop. They feature fresh-baked breads and sweets, along with an assortment of sandwiches. Be sure to check it out.
Pool and Game Hall to Open near Jackson Bluff
I'm a fan of this project for a myriad of reasons. The owner, operating as Tomahawk Chop Ventures, plans to build out an entertainment venue in a currently vacant warehouse in my neighborhood. Adding to my excitement is the fact that it is adjacent to a favorite local watering hole, The Palace Saloon.
Floor plans for the new pool and game hall show a thing or two to do on a night out: cornhole, skee-ball, billiards, card tables, and darts. Last but not least, there's the whole axe-throwing thing they're going for, as you'll see on their website. If it pans out, it would be the first trendy axe-throwing bar to appear in TLH.
Medical MJ Minute: MedMen to Open Store
I've said this before, and I'll reiterate: we get a rap for not having a lot to do in town. In response, we've overcompensated in a few avenues. It's my prerogative that we have the best beer, food, and coffee for a few hundred miles. And now, MMJ. Shops are popping up like weeds. I mean that in the best way possible, TLH Development is no narc. MedMen Dispensaries is slated to open a Midtown location at the corner of 5th and Thomasville. Their plans are to redevelop the building which currently houses Emo/Arc.
COT to Build Space for Mutual Aid Linemen
Public institutions aren't always responsive to fluid situations and circumstances. In this case, the City of Tallahassee has trumped that notion. COT will soon begin work on an 7,560sf Electric Logistics Facility which will serve as a base camp in the event of recovery operations after natural disasters. The space will contain a kitchen, dining area, bathrooms, and storage space. This facility will be a major boon for electric personnel setting out to restore our power grid after storms.
Do you have a new development tip? Hit me up, I'm always on the lookout.
