Speedway Entering the Tallahassee Market

The nation's second largest chain of corporate-owned convenience stores is speeding along toward the TLH retail market. Speedway, LLC has announced its intention to be the anchor tenant of the development we previously covered at the corner of West Tennessee Street and Appleyard. Speedway currently has locations dotting other metropolitan cities in Florida such as Tampa, Jacksonville, and Orlando. Their main existing competitor in this market will be the Circle K Corp., of which there are some two dozen locations in our area.

Developers from Continental Properties are seeking approval to construct a four-story nationally branded hotel at the site of the former Motel 6 adjacent to Market Square. The hotel will have 128 rooms and 500 sq ft of meeting space. The developer states that the proposed brand is "an upscale select service business traveler hotel."

DigiTally of the Day

DigiTally is the city's ticket reporting system for remedying municipal issues such as potholes, graffiti, broken streetlights, and almost every other city service under the sun. I like to tell people about DigiTally. It is my best and worst quality. In furtherance of highlighting the use of this app, I've decided I will occasionally publish requests I make relevant to public infrastructure and detail any follow-up action taken by the City. You can make these same requests! Learn more about DigiTally.
