TLH - Looking Forward
TLH Development is a newsletter I am writing about Tallahassee. It is my way of throwing my lot in with this City. I came here a visitor from farther South some six years ago. Like many others before me, I shuffled up the Interstate to this once sleepy university town to secure a college degree.
The difference for a select few of us is that when we fend off alumni outreach calls in present day, the question of "where you ended up" bears special significance. I tend to respond, "well, what do you mean?" I've found that's a better approach than telling the caller what intersection I am currently at.Here is home now. As I strive to use this platform to give a voice to people and issues who have traditionally lacked such a voice in TLH, I trust these three candidates to do the same as they write our City's next chapter.John Dailey for Mayor.Jeremy Matlow for Seat 3.Dianne Williams-Cox for Seat 5.

Legacy Hall
217,000 square feet. A cost of $66.6 million. An estimated completion date of Summer 2021.
Florida State University continues to work toward building a new business school at the O'Connell site on Gaines and MLK. This move, along with the recent opening of the downtown Jim Moran Institute, noticeably incorporates aspects of an "urban campus" new to Florida State. This dynamic type of approach to development should be expected as FSU continues to rise in the rankings and will need to expand its programs and operations as a primarily land-locked university.

Paper Fox Coffee
If the recent years of economic growth in TLH has shown us anything, it is that we love coffee, beer, and food, and we are not willing to compromise on quality.
In line with this truth, there is a new craft coffee shop in University Village at 2020 West Pensacola. Their team of baristas recently took home the win from a U.S. tour of the Barista League competition. They use LG as their roaster, and they plan on serving up breakfast quesadillas with Burrito Boarder. Go check these guys/gals out, they've earned it.

Appleyard Greenhouse
I don't have all the answers. Someone is building a giant greenhouse on Appleyard across from TCC. As I am more an interpreter of public records than an journalist, I could not tell you why. But to whoever is spending a quarter of a million dollars on this project: Thanks!
I will be seeking more info on this project as it becomes available.

The Nine Phase 2
This project was covered in a prior newsletter by TLH Dev. The 908 Group is wrapping up the first phase of their project at 924 West Pensacola. Just as quick, they're back for more. Plans submitted to GM show their intent to build an additional 6-story, 228 bedroom student housing complex.
