The Centre of Tallahassee - Capitol Edition

For anyone who has been seeking closure in the saga of the redevelopment of Ye olde Tallahassee Mall, you may soon find reprieve. Following suit with other underutilized or "dead" malls in America, the Centre is poised for new use as an office complex for our state government. New renderings show exactly how the Department of Health and Department of Children & Families will fill the existing gaps in the Centre. They will be joining the remaining retail tenants (Belk, AMC, etc.), as well as the Centre's more recent restaurant additions.

8 Five 0 Entertainment

If this project puts to end our discourse about needing a Dave & Buster's, it will all have been worth it. We can now expect Premier Fine Homes' upcoming master-planned Canopy development to include a 43,622 sq ft indoor entertainment facility. While there is no official word on what the game room will contain, renderings show two separate sets of lanes (bowling is almost a guarantee), and a large amount of flex space.

Gateway District Circle K

The Circle K location shared with McDonald's on Lake Bradford Rd is set to be demolished and built anew after the new year. With McDonald's recently completing their rebuild on West Pensacola, they plan to vacate this building. Consequently, Circle K wishes to construct a new large format convenience store to "provide the full breadth of offerings under the Circle K brand." Cool.

Affordable Housing Planned for West Tenn

Developers have submitted plans stating their intent to develop a rarely seen type of project in our city: affordable housing. Plans call for the construction of 64 apartment units with a mixture of two, three, and four bedroom units. The developers will be seeking low-income housing tax credits from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation to facilitate their project, and will seek approval from the FHF before moving forward.

Fools Fire Brewing

Long before the upstart Proof and Grasslands, there was the Fermentation Lounge. Known as a local craft beer bar and occasional gastropub, most forget that Fermentation Lounge attempted to jump start the craft brewing scene under the label "Fools Fire Brewing". Seven years ago, Ferm was brewing up homemade saisons and porters. Now they're back.
